"Alder Hey is a world renowned children's hospital, based in John's home town of Liverpool. When the hospital approached me to ask if I would support their wish to use one of John's drawings for their new IMAGINE campaign I was only too delighted to help.
I don't think many people know John's artwork, but sketching was like his security blanket - when he wasn't playing the guitar he was drawing. It seems to me entirely appropriate that one of the images he created out of love for our son Sean should be used to help the hospital to care for children worldwide."
'IMAGINE' is the name of Alder Hey's charity - a fundraising initiative that helps us to continue our pioneering work, caring for the health of over 200,000 children and young people per year. The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Steven Rotheram, has chosen the Alder Hey IMAGINE Appeal as one of his four charities to be supported by the Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal during his year in office.
